The Camino de Santiago de Compostela

2019

It was around the start of the Millennium, that I had the notion of walking the Camino to Santiago de Compostela - 1,000 miles from Le Puy-en-Velay in Southern France. But there was never a good time to ask for 10 weeks off work - and when I half-heartedly did so, I got a grumpy response. As time went on, and the route became more popular and touristy, and I realised a lot of it was just walking on roads, the idea began to fade.

But it never died completely and last year I decided that I had to make a decision one way or other.

How I ended up two Caminos in the year - and I am conscious that they were more walking-holidays than pilgrimages - is a long a story and will have to wait for the journal. Meanwhile, there are still the pictures.
