Technical Digression

It is strange going back to these black and white pictures after so many years. They really are technically abysmal. The film itself is strange - I seem to have picked a low speed film for 'high quality' photos and a film rarely used then or since (maybe this is why). I also may have got the exposure wrong and certainly messed up the processing because there are some very odd shapes on the negatives. I would like to feel I can blame the ravages of time but I fear this has had only a minor part to play.

But the other interesting point is that with black and white film I tended to look at the negatives and print only those that seemed likely to produce a good picture. I clearly decided not to print a number of these and, with the wonders of a digital computer, am only now seeing pictures that I hardly looked at at the time. They are still not very good and I can see my trying to restore them for years to come with Photoshop .

But, and this is the main reason for this digression, I find them absolutely fascinating and that is why they have been left in.
