I had naively expected the Black Sea, the major holiday resort for Russians and Eastern Europeans, to be big and glitzy. Well it was big, but not really glitzy. The pictures do not show it well but everywhere was dowdy - with stands reminiscent of a garden fete more than a big sea side resort. I had also planned to buy a pennant with the words 'Black Sea' to hang from the car mirror - but the only ones I saw had things in a foreign language on them.
