The guys were in a Ford Capri and told us they were not rushing - they had made it only to Venice the first night (1,000 miles - one slept while the other drove.) We swapped stories about border posts and they told us they had given a lift to a woman on the way and had smuggled her through the customs - into Romania, I presume. We made 'nudge nudge' jokes about two fellows and a woman but the older guy assured us it was not like that. But he did go on to say "although she did oblige me". That has always struck me as curious (and memorable) phrasing. Perhaps a generation thing.
