Day 19 and we spent the night just outside Venice. We drove into a camp site near (or maybe on) the beach and got stuck in the sand - fortunately some nice people helped push the car onto hard ground. After supper, when it was dark, we went for a swim in the rough but warm Mediterranean sea. We were surprised the next day to see headlines in the paper about, as best we could translate, the previous day's storms, a boat capsizing in Venice, a camp site being wrecked (not ours) and 20 people being killed.
