| This photo seems to have suffered more than most from the ravages of time - or maybe they are just more noticeable because it was a bit thin to begin with. But we saw this guy Bruno (if I read the signature correctly) drawing charcoal pictures of Venice and asked him how much. "2,000 Lire" he said - we offered 1,000 - and he said "How about a British pound?" (1,500 lire in those days.). We dealt and I took it home. My parents obviously liked it, had it framed, and for the rest of their lives it hung in pride of place in the living room. I now have it in mine.
